A day with the Villiers Quartet!

On Wednesday 29th June 2016, our String pupils were given the wonderful experience of taking part in some workshops with our resident musicians The Villiers Quartet.

The day began at the Infant school, where all of our Suzuki violinists gathered for their workshop. They listened carefully and were given lots of useful tips to help improve their playing and performance skills.

They played a few pieces which were variations on the theme of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Next, was the turn of our Junior String ensemble who worked on their concert piece called ‘Boysie’.

First they practised using the ‘whole’ bow.

Thank you to the Villiers Quartet for your hard work and the inspirational workshops, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all of our pupils.

The call came and we got ready for our big moment!

Mr Reid struck up the first chords of ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen…this was it!

We then sang our second song ‘Give me Wings’ by Douglas E Wagner

We then had to wait, for what seemed like hours, to hear the final results.

Everyone went back into the hall and waited with baited breath!

Success! Runners up out of 26 schools! Fantastic result! Well done everyone!!
